Tips for creating a work routine

Despite going to work every day, completing tasks on time during working hours and being more than used to performing our duties in the company, it is difficult to organize a list of actions to be carried out. This leads, therefore, to low work productivity , which can be reflected in our results.

The most important thing when organizing a good work routine is to be clear about what tasks you have ahead of you. It is also very important to be patient and know how much time (minutes, hours, days, weeks...) you have to hand in these tasks. Do you have a pen and paper at hand? Take note of our tips!

1. Make a list of your tasks

After writing down the tips we give you to organize your work routine in your notebook, write down a to-do list.

What do you have to deliver today? It is very important to help yourself with an overview of everything you have to do during your work day. It will be easier if you arrange the tasks in different rows with a short description of each one.

It is best to organize your tasks in a logical order. As a recommendation, choose to write down the most complex tasks first and those that will take the most time; and so on in descending order, with the simplest ones being the last ones you do .

2. Divide the work day into hours

Take a table divided into the hours of your day and write down in each box what task you will perform during each of them. This is another way to get an overview of the tasks you have for today, but with more specificity in the time you want to dedicate to each one of them.

Another good idea is to use post-its . What would an office be without them? Stick them on the wall, on the computer or wherever you can see them best . It will be easier for you to differentiate each task by color or shape.

3. Distractions, zero!

Please, before starting any task… get rid of distractions! Such as your smartphone, tablet games, WhatsApp Web and many other things that can make you daydream instead of finishing your work.

Put out of your sight anything that might be more interesting than your work day. Working from home can be even more tempting because of the long list of things that could destroy your concentration (we mean the sofa, the television, the bed… and even the fridge).

As for the last point, did you know that your work productivity will be improved if you work from a place other than your own home? We will tell you about it in the fourth point.

4. Determine a fixed workplace

An office, a coworking space … these are two ideal places to carry out your work tasks. Avoid working from home whenever possible to eliminate the distractions we mentioned above. The environment, the obligation to leave the house, relationships with other people… everything influences your work productivity.

In addition, working in a coworking space is much more dynamic and your routine will be less aggressive with your ability to concentrate. Have you not tried a coworking space yet?

5. Value your free time

If you do your tasks at the times you have set for yourself, you will surely have time for yourself. Resting is part of the routine and it is always good to take a break between hours. Put work aside as soon as you have everything well tied up and relax, it will be good for your mind and, therefore, for your health.
